Krispy Kremes At Home (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 cup of warm whole milk.
02 - 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) dry yeast, active.
03 - 1/4 cup white sugar.
04 - 2 large eggs, brought to room temperature.
05 - 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled.
06 - 4 cups all-purpose flour (and extra for rolling).
07 - 1/2 tsp regular salt.
08 - 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg.
09 - 2 cups powdered sugar.
10 - 1/3 cup whole milk for the glaze.
11 - 1/4 tsp vanilla extract for the glaze.
12 - Vegetable oil for frying.

# Instructions:

01 - In a big bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit untouched for 5-10 minutes until the mixture gets bubbly.
02 - Add in the rest of the sugar, eggs, cooled melted butter, salt, and nutmeg. Gradually work the flour in until the dough is sticky but workable. Knead it on a surface dusted with flour for about 5-7 minutes till the dough feels soft and smooth.
03 - Coat a bowl lightly with grease, place the dough inside, and cover it with a moist towel. Leave it somewhere warm for 1 to 1.5 hours, until the dough has doubled.
04 - Flatten the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness on a floured countertop. Use a doughnut cutter to make the rings and the centers.
05 - Arrange the doughnut shapes on a parchment-lined sheet, letting them rise again for around 30 minutes until they're puffed up and soft.
06 - Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep skillet. Fry a few doughnuts at a time, about 1 minute per side, until they're golden brown. Move them to a rack to drain.
07 - Stir the powdered sugar, 1/3 cup milk, and vanilla together in a bowl to make a glaze. Dip each fried doughnut while they're still warm, then let the glaze harden on a rack.
08 - Dig in while they're fresh for the tastiest results!

# Notes:

01 - These fluffy Krispy Kreme-style treats are sugary, light, and have the softest texture. Best straight from the fryer for that melt-in-your-mouth feel!
