Tender Chicken Breasts (Print)

An easy way to cook moist and flavorful chicken breasts using just basic spices and perfect timing on the stovetop.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 teaspoon smoked or sweet paprika.
02 - Salt and fresh ground pepper.
03 - 3 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil, split.
04 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
05 - 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil.
06 - 4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts, about a pound altogether.
07 - Cooking spray to coat pan.
08 - 1/2 teaspoon onion powder.
09 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, kept separate.

# Steps:

01 - Pour 1-1/2 tablespoons of your oil into a big skillet and warm it over medium-high heat.
02 - Dry the chicken well and rub oil on each piece. Mix all the spices and coat both sides evenly.
03 - Lay down two chicken breasts and leave them untouched for 5-7 minutes. Flip them over, drop in a tablespoon of butter, and keep cooking until their center hits 165°F. That's another 7 minutes or so.
04 - Take the cooked chicken out and cover it to keep warm. Repeat the steps for the rest of the chicken and butter.
05 - Let the chicken sit for 5 minutes, then slice it up and enjoy.

# Notes:

01 - Flatten chicken to no more than 1 inch thick so it cooks evenly.
02 - Go for vegetable oil because it handles high heat better.
03 - Avoid moving chicken while it sears to get a good crust.
