Stir together the wet stuff—milk, egg, butter, and vanilla—in a bowl until smooth.

Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium-sized bowl.

Add the wet ingredients into the dry bowl little by little. Keep stirring until it all blends into a smooth batter.

Gently fold the apple pieces into the batter so they’re evenly coated.

On medium heat, get your pan and cooking oil ready. Heat it to about 350°F (175°C).

Drop heaping spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Let each side fry for 2-3 minutes until you see that deep golden color.

Lift each one out, letting them sit on paper towels to soak up the extra grease.

Right before serving, sprinkle them with powdered sugar if that’s your thing.
