Apple Cinnamon Rolls (Print)

Golden cinnamon apple rolls topped with vanilla ice cream—perfect for a sweet comfort treat.

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 cups all-purpose flour, the base for the dough.
02 - 1/4 cup white sugar, adds sweetness to the mix.
03 - 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast, to make the dough rise.
04 - 1 tsp salt, balances all the flavors.
05 - 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, for added warmth in the dough.
06 - 1 cup milk, warmed to help activate the yeast.
07 - 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted to make the dough rich.
08 - 2 large eggs, helps bring the dough together.
09 - 2 cups peeled, diced apples (like Granny Smith), for a sweet filling.
10 - 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, for sweetening the apple filling.
11 - 1 tsp ground cinnamon, to spice up the apple filling.
12 - 1 tbsp lemon juice, prevents apple browning and gives flavor.
13 - 1 tbsp cornstarch, thickens the apple filling.
14 - 1 cup powdered sugar, to mix into the icing.
15 - 2 tbsp milk, used to thin out the powdered sugar for icing.
16 - 1 tsp vanilla extract, adds a hint of sweetness to the icing.
17 - Vanilla ice cream, optional for serving.

# Steps:

01 - Mix half the flour with sugar, yeast, salt, and cinnamon in a big bowl.
02 - In a new bowl, whisk together the warmed milk, eggs, and melted butter.
03 - Pour the wet mix into the dry one, stirring slowly. Add the rest of the flour gradually until a soft dough forms.
04 - Put the dough on a floured countertop and knead it for about 5 minutes until it feels smooth and stretchy.
05 - Grease a bowl, place the dough inside, and cover it. Allow it to rise somewhere warm for an hour until it's twice as big.
06 - Toss the diced apples with brown sugar, ground cinnamon, cornstarch, and lemon juice in a bowl. Stir well, then set aside.
07 - Flatten the risen dough on a clean surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Layer the apple mixture evenly across it.
08 - Roll the dough into a tight log, starting at one of the long edges. Seal it shut by pinching the seam.
09 - Slice the dough log into 12 pieces of equal size, placing them in a greased 9x13-inch pan.
10 - Cover the pan loosely with a towel and let the rolls grow bigger for another 30-45 minutes.
11 - Set your oven to heat up to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for about 25-30 minutes or until golden on top.
12 - Whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk in a small bowl until smooth. This will be your icing.
13 - Drizzle the icing over the rolls while they're warm. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you'd like.
