Turn your oven on at 350°F (175°C), and line up a sheet pan with some parchment paper for non-sticking.

In a bowl, mix the butter and sugar really well until the mix looks fluffy and light.

Add your vanilla in, giving it a quick stir so it blends all the way through.

Toss in the salt and flour bit by bit, stirring until you get a soft, even dough.

Roll the dough into little balls and space them out nicely on the prepared sheet.

Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to press a small dent into each dough ball’s center.

Add a drop of cherry jam to the middle of each ball, then pop half a cherry right on top.

Slide the tray into the oven and bake for somewhere between 12 and 15 minutes, or just until the edges start to turn golden.

After taking them out of the oven, let them sit on the tray for a couple of minutes, then place them on a rack to cool the rest of the way.
