Rich, melt-in-your-mouth cookies packed with fruity cherry filling and finished with maraschino cherry halves. Perfect for celebrations or casual days!

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence.
02 - Half a cup of cherry jam.
03 - Twelve maraschino cherries, cut in halves.
04 - Two cups of plain flour.
05 - Softened butter, one cup, unsalted.
06 - Just under a quarter teaspoon of salt.
07 - Half a cup of standard sugar.

# Steps:

01 - Turn your oven on at 350°F (175°C), and line up a sheet pan with some parchment paper for non-sticking.
02 - In a bowl, mix the butter and sugar really well until the mix looks fluffy and light.
03 - Add your vanilla in, giving it a quick stir so it blends all the way through.
04 - Toss in the salt and flour bit by bit, stirring until you get a soft, even dough.
05 - Roll the dough into little balls and space them out nicely on the prepared sheet.
06 - Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to press a small dent into each dough ball’s center.
07 - Add a drop of cherry jam to the middle of each ball, then pop half a cherry right on top.
08 - Slide the tray into the oven and bake for somewhere between 12 and 15 minutes, or just until the edges start to turn golden.
09 - After taking them out of the oven, let them sit on the tray for a couple of minutes, then place them on a rack to cool the rest of the way.

# Notes:
