Creamy Tortellini Sausage (Print)

Comforting mix of sausage, tortellini, and kale in rich creamy broth.

# Ingredients:

→ Protein and Base

01 - A small yellow onion, chopped finely
02 - 3 minced garlic cloves
03 - 1 pound of Italian sausage, ground
04 - 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

→ Spices

05 - Half a teaspoon of mustard powder
06 - Just a pinch of cayenne pepper
07 - One teaspoon hot sauce
08 - 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
09 - A pinch of red pepper flakes
10 - A small pinch of black pepper
11 - Half a teaspoon oregano

→ Liquids and Extras

12 - 5 cups of chicken stock
13 - A cup of heavy whipping cream
14 - 10 ounces of tortellini, about 2 cups
15 - 2 cups of chopped kale

# Steps:

01 - Brown the sausage with the onion for around 8-10 minutes. Get rid of any grease left over. Toss in the garlic and cook for another minute.
02 - Sprinkle the flour over the sausage mix and let it cook for a minute or two. Stir in your seasoning next.
03 - Stir in the cream and broth. Heat it up until it boils, then lower it to a simmer.
04 - Stir in kale and tortellini and let it cook for 3-5 minutes till the pasta's tender. Adjust salt as needed.

# Notes:

01 - Swap kale with spinach for a different veggie option
02 - Cook tortellini separately to keep leftovers fresher
03 - This also works great in a slow cooker
