Velvet Cinnamon Rolls (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast.
02 - ¼ cup granulated sugar.
03 - 3½ cups all-purpose flour.
04 - ½ tsp salt.
05 - 1 tsp baking powder.
06 - ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted.
07 - 1 large egg.
08 - 1 cup whole milk, warmed.
09 - 1 tsp vanilla extract.
10 - 2 tbsp red food coloring.
11 - ¾ cup brown sugar, packed.
12 - ½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional).
13 - 2 tbsp ground cinnamon.
14 - ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling).
15 - ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting).
16 - 4 cups powdered sugar.
17 - 8 oz cream cheese, softened.
18 - 2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting).
19 - 2-4 tbsp milk (for frosting).

# Instructions:

01 - Grab a large mixing bowl and stir together the sugar, yeast, salt, flour (2 cups), and baking powder.
02 - In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, warm milk, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Pour this into the dry mix, then slowly work in the rest of the flour until you get a smooth dough.
03 - Sprinkle flour onto your counter and work the dough by hand for about 5-7 minutes. Once it feels soft and stretchy, move it to an oiled bowl, cover it up, and leave it somewhere warm for an hour so it doubles in size.
04 - In a small bowl, combine the ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and softened butter. Mix until well blended.
05 - Roll the risen dough into a rectangle (about 12x18 inches). Spread the cinnamon mixture across the surface, toss in mini chocolate chips if you'd like, then roll it tightly into a long log. Slice it into 12 even pieces.
06 - Arrange the slices into a greased 9x13-inch pan. Cover them up and let them puff up for another 30 minutes.
07 - Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Put the rolls inside and bake them for 25-30 minutes until golden and cooked through.
08 - As the rolls bake, make the frosting. Beat the cream cheese and softened butter until smooth. Slowly mix in the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until it gets creamy and spreadable.
09 - Once the rolls are out of the oven and slightly cooled, slather the frosting over them. They're soft, gooey, and totally worth the wait!

# Notes:

01 - For best results, let the dough rise somewhere warm with no drafts.
02 - Toss in mini chocolate chips for an extra indulgent touch.
