Turn your oven on to 350°F (175°C) and cover a baking tray with parchment paper.

Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium-sized bowl. Set it to the side.

In a big bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until it's smooth and creamy.

Beat in each egg one after the other, then pour in the vanilla and mix again.

Slowly pour the dry mixture into the creamy wet mixture, stirring gently until it all comes together.

Stir in the chocolate chips and, if you're using them, the chopped pecans or walnuts.

Combine sugar with cinnamon in a little bowl.

Roll the dough into small balls, coat them in the cinnamon sugar, and arrange them on the baking tray.

Put in the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes. They should turn golden on the edges. Cool before eating.
