01 -
Follow the instructions on the cake mix box to make the batter. Divide into six portions and mix each with one of the gel food colors: purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red.
02 -
Pour each colored batter into separate pans and bake. Let all the layers cool before moving on.
03 -
Crush the cooled colored cake pieces into small crumbs, keeping each color separate.
04 -
In a big bowl, beat the butter so it’s creamy. Slowly add powdered sugar and vanilla while mixing. Add milk bit by bit for a smooth, spreadable frosting.
05 -
Grab bits of crumbs from each color, squish them together into balls, and pop them on a lined tray.
06 -
Put the tray of cake balls in the freezer to let them firm up, about 15-20 minutes.
07 -
Microwave the white chocolate or candy melts in short bursts, stirring every 20 seconds until smooth and melted.
08 -
Dip each colorful ball into the melted chocolate. Let the extra chocolate drip off. Sprinkle with decorations while the coating is still wet, if you want.
09 -
Stick the coated truffles in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes, until the chocolate is completely set.
