Chop up your stale bread into bite-sized cubes, and set them aside for now.

In a big bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cream, sugar, and cinnamon until it's all smooth and combined.

Throw the bread pieces into the custard and gently mix until everything's soaked well. Leave it to sit for about 10 minutes so the bread can absorb the mixture.

Fire up your oven to 350°F. Grease a standard muffin tray with butter or pop in paper liners.

Spoon the soaked bread into each muffin tin section, pushing down gently. Combine sugar with cinnamon, drizzle butter over the muffins, and then go in with the sweet topping.

Bake for around 20-25 minutes until the muffins are golden and firm. Let them rest in the tray briefly, then cool on a rack. They're best enjoyed warm with some maple syrup if you're feeling fancy.
