Turn on the oven to 350°F (175°C) and get a baking sheet ready with parchment paper on it.

Take a medium bowl and stir together the flour, salt, and baking soda until blended.

In a big mixing bowl, whip the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth. Crack in the eggs one at a time, mixing well as you go, then stir in the vanilla.

Slowly mix the dry stuff with the creamy mixture until it's barely mixed. Gently fold in the chocolate chips along with sprinkles or holiday M&M’s.

Scoop rounded spoons of dough onto the lined baking sheet, leaving a 2-inch gap between them. If you'd like, press extra sprinkles or M&M’s on top of each cookie.

Pop them in the oven for 10-12 minutes, just until the edges turn golden. Let them cool down a little on the sheet before moving them to a rack.
