Whip the soft butter and powdered sugar together until fluffy. This should take about 3 minutes.

Add the egg and vanilla, then mix until everything looks smooth.

Slowly add the flour, stirring until the dough forms properly.

Using a wooden spoon, gently mix in the chopped walnuts and colorful candied cherries.

Roll the dough into an 18-inch log shape on parchment paper. Wrap it snugly and chill for at least 1 hour in the fridge.

Turn on the oven to 325°F and get a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

Slice the chilled dough into rounds about 1/4 inch thick, placing them about an inch apart on the tray.
