Warm Candied Yams (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/4 cup white sugar.
02 - 6 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced into pieces about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
03 - 1 pinch of salt.
04 - 8 tablespoons of salted butter, though unsalted works too.
05 - 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder.
06 - A tablespoon of real vanilla extract.
07 - 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder.
08 - 1 cup dark brown sugar.

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a casserole dish that’s 9x13 inches in size.
02 - Get your sweet potatoes washed, peeled, and sliced into 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick pieces. Lay them out in the dish you greased earlier.
03 - Melt the butter in a saucepan on medium heat. Toss in the brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a bit of salt. Stir and let it simmer for 5 minutes till it’s smooth. Add the vanilla last and mix well.
04 - Drizzle that glaze over your sweet potatoes, making sure every slice gets some love.
05 - Cover up the dish with foil that’s been vented and pop it in the oven for 30 minutes.
06 - Take out the dish, mix the sweet potatoes to spread the glaze. Cover it again with the foil and bake for 25 minutes more.
07 - Take the foil off and let it bake for a final 10 minutes, uncovered this time.
08 - Give the yams 10 minutes to cool before digging in.

# Notes:
