Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a casserole dish that’s 9x13 inches in size.

Get your sweet potatoes washed, peeled, and sliced into 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick pieces. Lay them out in the dish you greased earlier.

Melt the butter in a saucepan on medium heat. Toss in the brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a bit of salt. Stir and let it simmer for 5 minutes till it’s smooth. Add the vanilla last and mix well.

Drizzle that glaze over your sweet potatoes, making sure every slice gets some love.

Cover up the dish with foil that’s been vented and pop it in the oven for 30 minutes.

Take out the dish, mix the sweet potatoes to spread the glaze. Cover it again with the foil and bake for 25 minutes more.

Take the foil off and let it bake for a final 10 minutes, uncovered this time.

Give the yams 10 minutes to cool before digging in.
