Creamy Beef Shells (Print)

Shell pasta coated in a cheesy, rich sauce with seasoned beef. Perfect for a cozy family meal in just 30 minutes.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound of ground beef.
02 - 8 ounces of medium pasta shells.
03 - 1 small sweet onion, diced really finely.
04 - 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
05 - 5 cloves of garlic, chopped up small.
06 - A teaspoon of dried parsley.
07 - 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning.
08 - 1/2 teaspoon each of paprika (smoked) and oregano.
09 - 2 tablespoons of regular flour.
10 - 1 cup of beef broth or stock.
11 - 15 ounces of marinara sauce.
12 - 3/4 cup of rich heavy cream.
13 - 1/4 cup of sour cream.
14 - 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese, freshly shredded.
15 - Add kosher salt and black pepper to your taste.

# Steps:

01 - In a big skillet, warm up the oil and brown the beef, breaking it apart as it cooks (around 3-5 minutes). Drain the grease when you're done.
02 - Cook the pasta in salty water following the package’s guide. Once it's done, drain the water and set the pasta aside.
03 - Using the same pan, toss in the onion and let it cook for 2 minutes. Stir in garlic and let it go another minute until it smells amazing.
04 - Add the flour and stir it around for a minute. Slowly pour in the broth and marinara, followed by the seasonings. Stir it well.
05 - Bring the sauce to a bubble, then lower the heat. Let it cook on low for 6-8 minutes, stirring here and there until it thickens up.
06 - Put the pasta and beef back in the pan. Stir in the heavy cream, sour cream, and cheese. Mix until everything's melted and heated through.

# Notes:

01 - Sauce thickens more as it cools off.
02 - Fresh cheese melts better than the pre-shredded kind.
03 - If the sauce is too thick, just mix in some pasta water.
