Fritter Bread Loaf (Print)

This Amish Fritter Bread is full of cinnamon-sugar flavor, swirled with tender apples, and finished with a sweet drizzle. An ideal autumn pick-me-up!

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 cup softened butter.
02 - 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour.
03 - 2 tsp ground cinnamon.
04 - 1/3 cup packed brown sugar.
05 - 2 large eggs.
06 - 1/2 cup sugar.
07 - 1 3/4 tsp baking powder.
08 - 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.
09 - 1/2 cup milk.
10 - 2 peeled and diced apples (makes about 1 cup).
11 - 1 tsp cinnamon for apples.
12 - 1/4 cup sugar for the apple mix.

# Steps:

01 - Turn the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your loaf pan so it’s ready.
02 - Grab a small bowl, stir the cinnamon and brown sugar, then set it aside for later.
03 - Blend the sugar and soft butter in a big bowl till smooth. Add one egg at a time, then mix in the vanilla.
04 - Take a separate bowl, mix the baking powder with the flour. Slowly add this, along with the milk, to your butter bowl in turns.
05 - Mix up the apple chunks with a tablespoon of cinnamon and 1/4 cup of sugar in another bowl.
06 - Start with pouring half the batter into your pan, then sprinkle in half the apples. Add a layer of cinnamon sugar, repeat with the other half of each.
07 - Take a knife or toothpick and gently swirl through the batter and apple mixture to create a fun, swirled design.
08 - Pop it into the oven for 50 to 60 minutes. It’s done when a toothpick comes out clean.
09 - Let it cool off before glazing. To make the glaze, stir together 2 tbsp milk with 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Drizzle over the loaf once it’s cooled.

# Notes:

01 - Hint: Don’t glaze the bread while it’s hot or it’ll soak in too much.
02 - Run a toothpick through the layers to give it those lovely swirls.
