Baked Apple Fritters (Print)

Tender treats loaded with apples, cinnamon, and a light vanilla finish. This is a guilt-free spin on a favorite.

# Ingredients:

→ For the Fritters

01 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
02 - 1/2 cup whole milk
03 - 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
04 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
05 - 1 1/2 cups chopped apples (like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
06 - 2 teaspoons baking powder
07 - 1/3 cup white sugar
08 - 2 large eggs
09 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
10 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
11 - 2 cups plain flour

→ Sweet Glaze

12 - 2-3 tablespoons milk
13 - 1 cup powdered sugar
14 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

# Steps:

01 - Set your oven to 375°F and get a baking tray. Either line it with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
02 - Stir together your flour, sugar, baking powder, spices (cinnamon and nutmeg), and salt in a big mixing bowl. Make sure there are no lumps!
03 - In a new bowl, mix the eggs, butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth and well combined.
04 - Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir carefully until it's just combined—don’t overdo it. Add in the apple pieces gently at the end.
05 - Spoon out scoops of batter onto your prepared baking tray. Leave some space (about 2 inches) between them. Bake for around 14–16 minutes, or until golden brown.
06 - While they cool a bit, whip together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. This is your glaze.
07 - Drizzle the glaze over the fritters while they're still warm. Wait a few minutes for it to set, then dig in!

# Notes:

01 - Best eaten fresh, but heat them for 10 seconds in the microwave to refresh.
02 - For bonus crunch, add some chopped nuts to the mix.
03 - Thin or thicken the glaze by adjusting the milk amount.
